A bit about me

Hi! !'m Susanna Hinton. I live in Northallerton, North Yorkshire, and have been a member of New Life Baptist Church since 1997. My husband Phil and I have headed up the prayer ministry team there since 2016; and I have the privilege of mentoring people at different stages of life. I am also Renew Wellbeing Facilitator for the Northern Baptist Association.

Over recent years Phil and I have explored much of the Yorkshire Dales, getting to know the area well: it's where we find our 'head clearing space' and I'd love to share some of that with you. I carry my camera every where I go, and thoroughly enjoy the slower pace that goes with stopping to take photos, as well as the creativity of capturing some of the beauty of my surroundings.

I am the mother of two adult children and I worked as the PA to the Senior Pastor at New Life Baptist Church for 20 years.

Connect with God in the landscape

Retreat walks are an opportunity to take time out from your normal schedule, and to spend time in a beautiful landscape, taking notice of your surroundings; chatting or being silent, maybe stopping to pray (together or on your own); being creative; learning together about what we see and maybe teaching each other some new skills. It’s not about how high, fast or far we walk, but about taking our time at a comfortable speed. As part of the process of arranging a walk with you, I'll invite you to a Zoom conversation so that we can discuss in detail what you'd like to do, and tailor the walk to you.

As we walk, we will be attending to our wellbeing: spiritually as we are aware of God's presence; physically as we exercise; and mentally as we use the five ways to wellbeing (connect, learn, get active, take notice and give).

My Christian faith is an essential part of my approach to these walks, but people of no faith who are open to such a faith-based walk are very welcome.

Walks take place on week days (except Wednesdays). I am happy to take bookings for individuals and for groups of up to 3 or 4 people, but do feel free to contact me about bringing larger groups.

You can book a walk as a one-off; or you may like to make it something you do regularly - perhaps monthly, termly, or even yearly, whatever suits you.
